Well-known and respected in the industry, Michael has been on the board of HAI since early 2017 and he has been Country Director of Wavin for the last six years, having joined the business in 2008. Prior to joining Wavin, Michael worked for nearly 20 years in various domestic and international sales and marketing roles in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech and Food industries. He is looking forward to bringing his extensive experience in the sector to the role and to working with the HAI team, Executive Committee and Members to support the recovery and continued growth of the sector.
Aside from his role in HAI, Michael has other links to the construction sector through his chair of both the Building Materials Federation and the Irish Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association, as well as membership of the Construction Industry Council. On his appointment as President Michael said “I am truly honoured to take on the role of President and see my appointment in part linked to the recognition and legacy which Wavin has in the mindsetof the merchant trade in Ireland and my predecessors who
successfully founded, developed, and led the business over the past six decades. I am fortunate to have a great team of people around me on the board, which I think provides a great service to the membership.
I am especially appreciative of the outgoing President, Sean Moran, who will keep a watchful eye on me having just successfully completed his term of offi ce, but also Martin Markey as CEO and the other HAI staff, Jim, Aoife, and Orla.
