Sean is CEO and majority shareholder of the Home Project Centre (HPC) Group. HPC currently has 14 trading units around the country, employing 250 people and operates such trading brands as T J O’Mahonys, C+D Providers, PH Ross, Commons Hardware and McCarthys Hardware.
He has held a variety of roles in his career to date, most of which were with businesses in or associated with the construction industry and supply of building and DIY materials. He is a qualified accountant (FCCA) but moved away from pure financial roles earlier in his career.
He spent 12 years with Stone Developments, part of the Sisk group of companies, where originally he was Financial Controller of their Irish and UK operations before being appointed Managing Director in 1995. He first became involved in the builders’ merchant sector in 2001 when he was appointed Managing Director of the McMahon Group.
The current leg of his journey began in 2005 when he joined Moritz Holdings, a large house-building and property holding/development company, as Managing Director of Moritz Trading. There he ran the builders’ merchant division and was responsible for implementing an ambitious diversification and growth strategy. As part of this they acquired a number of leading independent builders’ providers businesses on the east coast including Commons Hardware, T J O’Mahonys and C+D Providers.
The severe downturn in the economy and construction industry led to NAMA taking over a significant portion of Moritz Holdings loans and in 2012, as part of a group restructuring, he led the management team, which included the current HPC Managing Director Dennis O’Connor, in a buyout of the trading business.
Annemarie joined HAI in August 2014 and before that worked as Secretary and Chief Executive Officer to the community based network of volunteers, Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland based in Warwickshire, for six years. She also consulted to the Royal Life Saving Society in the UK on change management in member-led environments.
Prior to Rotary, Annemarie was the CEO of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber of Commerce. Previous roles included sales, marketing and business development across the Telegraph Group Limited and Associated Newspapers in the UK and Ireland. As well as a spell working with Paddy Power to launch their online casino in the UK.
Annemarie studied Politics, History and Italian at UCD and holds a Public Relations Diploma from the Public Relations Institute of Ireland, coming first in her class and awarded Student of the Year. She is currently studying part-time at Quinn School, UCD for a Business Studies diploma and in the spare time that’s left enjoys supporting the Leinster and Irish rugby teams.
