Last Friday November 12th, the executive of the board of Hardware Association Ireland, (HAI) met with Minister for Housing Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD at Wavin Ireland ’s premises. At the meeting were President Michael O’Donohoe, past President and CEO of HPC Group Sean Moran, Treasurer Mark Lohan and CEO Martin Markey.
We discussed the Housing for All plan, and how HAI members are key stakeholders in delivering on both housing and climate action targets. Housing for All underpins the largest investment in residential housing in the history of the state and it has home ownership as an important principle. Minister O’Brien was also brought up to speed on many of the urgent issues facing the sector, including Materials and Timber shortages and Brexit.
To mark the occasion HAI presented the Minister with a framed original July 1963 “Time” magazine which featured the then Taoiseach Sean Lemass on the cover. At that time Sean Lemass was pivotal in the creation of Wavin and later became Chair of the board.
Afterwards Minister O’Brien was given a guided tour of the Wavin facility. #housingforall #hardware #wavin #constructionindustry
