Hardware Association Ireland (HAI) has welcomed the Government’s proposals on retrofitting and reskilling contained within the stimulus package announced by the Government this week.
HAI presented extensive proposals on retrofitting and reskilling to the Government in June as part of its ‘Rebuilding Our Future’ plan.
HAI welcomes the announcement of €200 million invested in training, reskilling & apprenticeships with a green focus, (including a Retrofit Skills Training Initiative) and the Association looks forward to further dialogue with the Government regarding on how further action points can be enacted to stimulate more jobs. The Association was also pleased with the direction taken in increasing Help to Buy Scheme relief from €20-30k, and it welcomes further actions to be taken to offer further supports to homeowners and to stimulate activity in the housing sector.
Commenting on the news, HAI Chief Executive Martin Markey said; ‘’Hardware Association Ireland would like to welcome the direction of the Stimulus Package announced today, and thank the Government for listening to our our recommendations. We look forward to working with the Government on the detailed action points in Rebuilding Our Future.’’
Hardware Association Ireland is the representative body for Irish hardware and DIY retailers, builders’ merchants, distributors, and manufacturers. It represents over 400 members nationwide and 26,000 staff in the sector.
