Each year we will continue to ask members to complete a survey on current wage rates and future employment plans. A summary of the results from our retailer & merchant members is below:
- Of the respondents, both Munster and Connacht/Ulster account for the largest % of participants at 20% each.
- 42% of respondents have approximate turnover of between €1m to €2.5m.
- 63% of respondents say their business wages account for less than 15%.
- 42% of businesses plan to hire full time employees in 2019 (with 19% intending to hire part time).
- Dublin has the highest rate of pay in the country in all but two categories, Rest of Leinster has the lowest rate of pay in all but three categories.
- 61% of respondents do not intend to increase wages in 2019, a 22% increase from 2018.
