October 1, 2020The Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation has today issued a reminder to retail outlets and shopping centres to ensure that physical distancing, managed entry and exit and queuing systems and measures to restrict any congregation in shared spaces continue to be strictly implemented.
They also wish to remind businesses of the importance of the public health guidelines generally on sanitation and that the wearing of masks continue to be rigorously implemented in the interest of public health and the continuation of trading during the pandemic.

Physical distancing measures that must be adhered to
Essential Retail Outlets must implement physical distancing measures:
- ensure adequate distancing between customers and shop assistants in line with public health guidelines
- only let people into the store in small groups and ensure spaces are not crowded
- manage queue control inside and outside the door to maintain necessary physical distance
- all Essential Retail Outlets are encouraged to provide online services where that is possible and appropriate to minimise footfall
