Security warning – imitation ‘cash-in-transit’ vehicles

The criminal gang are reported to be highly sophisticated; they cloned the registration plates from real cash-in-transit vans and used the same livery as the vans of a legitimate company. The gang arrived to the site before the scheduled collection time (suggesting they have been monitoring collection schedules), produced ‘legitimate-looking’ documentation when they arrived, and wore uniforms and identification badges similar to the identification carried by the legitimate company.

HAI advises members who use such services to be on high alert and to fully adhere to the security protocols agreed with their cash-in-transit provider and to contact the cash-in-transit company directly if there is any doubt.
