The quarterly Business Index captures net sales revenue from participating member retailers and merchants. Participating members receive a more detailed breakdown including year-on-year comparison; month-on-month comparison, and index comparisons by region, area, number of employees and by category.
Key Objectives
– To establish an ongoing guide to revenue performance for HAI member firms
– To deliver a total index figure on changes to the total value of the market on a quarterly and annual basis
Year-on-Year Comparison
Q1 year on year comparisons are positive with the sector recording an increase of 6%.
The year-on-year increase in Q1 shows variation across member groups and peaks among rural members.
What our members say
“The Business Index gives us key quantitative data to drive our decisions. It removes hearsay and gives us a reality check of what is happening at a national and at a regional level”. Mark Lohan – Managing Director Brooks Timber and Building Supplies
“We find the HAI Business Index a valuable resource in enabling us to benchmark our performance against similar sized stores both within our region and nationally. As a small rural store, it is important to know how we are performing relative to the market and the results of the Index help us set, track and potentially change our KPI’s accordingly”. Eoin Lynch – Owner at D Lynch and Sons Ltd
From Q1 2021 the Business Index is collecting and analysing data at category level. If members would like to contribute and benefit from category data please contact Martin at 087 2226532.
