HAI Welcomes New President and Board Members

HAI is pleased to welcome Michael O’Donohoe, Country Director at Wavin Ireland, as its new President for 2021-2022.

Well-known and respected in the industry, Michael has been on the board of HAI since early 2017 and he has been Country Director of Wavin for the last six years. Prior to joining Wavin, Michael worked for nearly 20 years in various sales and marketing roles in various sectors.

Aside from his role in HAI, Michael has other links to the construction sector through his chair of both the Building Materials Federation and the Irish Plastic Pipe Manufacturers Association, as well as membership of the Construction Industry Council. Michael has a B.Sc. in Applied Sciences from Trinity College, an M.Sc. in Executive Leadership from the University of Ulster and is also a member of both the Marketing Institute of Ireland and the Institute of Directors.

HAI is also pleased to welcome its newest members to its Executive Committee:

Mark Sharkey has been the Chief Executive of the Templecrone Cooperative Agricultural Society, based in Donegal since 2008. As well as operating in the Hardware sector, the Cope has a number of other retail businesses. Prior to joining the Cope, Mark spent over 20 years working for multinational organisations and has acquired extensive experience during his career as a senior executive.

Pat Moore is the Chadwicks Group Category Director with full purchasing responsibility. Pat has worked in the building materials sector for the past 26 years. He began his career in Atlantic Homecare and Woodies before moving to the merchanting side of the business with Heiton Buckley and Chadwicks. Pat has an MSc in Business from the IMI and has recently completed a Professional Diploma in eCommerce from UCD.

Paul Candon CEO of United Hardware. Paul has been a Non-Executive Director since 2016 and Chairman of the Group since 2017. Previously Paul held a number of senior positions, most recently as CEO of Bunzl.  Prior to that he worked with McCabe’s Pharmacy, Statoil, Topaz and Roches Stores. He has also had a number of directorships.
